The Enforcement Process
The enforcement section is responsible for ensuring the fair treatment of our environment by enforcing the rules and regulations that protect it. The enforcement section of the Division of Coastal Resource Management is made up of six individuals – one chief enforcement and five enforcement officers. These officers monitor permitted areas and enforce permit rules and regulations. There are five APCs or Areas of Particular Concern that are frequently monitored by the enforcement officers. These areas are:
Enforcement officers also visit DCRM permitted projects and any projects that are underway that have gone through the federal consistency process.
Upon a determination that a permitted project violates one or more provisions of the permit rules and regulations, or a person or group is determined to be in violation of law subject to CRM program jurisdiction proper enforcement actions shall be taken, as seen in the flowchart.
