The enforcement section is responsible for ensuring the fair treatment of our environment by enforcing the rules and regulations that protect it. The enforcement section of the Division of Coastal Resource Management is made up of six individuals - one chief enforcement and five enforcement officers. These officers monitor permitted areas and enforce permit rules and regulations. There are five APC’s or areas of particular concern that are frequently monitored by the enforcement officers. These areas are:
- Shorelines (S)
- Port & Industrial (PI)
- Lagoon & Reef (LR)
- Wetlands (W)
- Coastal Hazards (CH)
Enforcement officers also visit projects with Major Siting permits, Minor Siting permits, and any federal consistency projects that are underway.
Upon a determination that a permitted project violates one or more provisions of the permit rules and regulations, or a person or group is determined to be in violation of law subject to CRM program jurisdiction proper enforcement actions shall be taken, as seen in the flowchart.
